Auckland is the main destination arrival City of New Zealand. It is the biggest Polynesian City in the world. Famous for its beaches, its fine harbours and yachting, it is a very modern city this modern city. Travel south and you are in the dairy lands of the Waikato, the home of Hobbiton in Matamata. Rotorua New Zealand most active tourism city is in the Bay of Plenty and is known as the centre of Maoridom and Maori Culture. Further south is Lake Taupo and the Tongariro National park. Here are the 3 mountains Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu. It is here that hosted Mordor and was known as Middle Earth in the film, Lord of the Rings. Travel through desert and then agricultural and dairy farming to Wellington the Capital City.
Auckland Museum: Is situated on a hill above the city and facing the Hauraki Gulf. It is rich in Maori and war exhibits.
Mt Eden is an extinct volcano: The crater and the Maori fortress, almost 250 years old is visible. Here offers a panoramic view of Auckland including both the Waitemata and the Manukau Harbours.
